Entries for the Greening the Islands Awards have come in from around the world and the lucky winners will be celebrating at the gala dinner on Favignana on 3 November.
The awards is a unique opportunity to raise awareness about projects that are already enabling a greener and more sustainable future for islands and helping spread best practices among remote and insular locations globally.
Awards are given in three categories:
- Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency
- Sustainable Mobility/Transportation
All the islands of the world are allowed to participate. The winners of the 3rd edition of the awards will be voted by prestigious jury members as well as members of the GreeningTheIslands.net community.
The honours last year were taken by “Ta’u island microgrid” in Hawaii, USA, in the Energy category, Malta’s “Water Conservation and Awareness Centre” in the Water category, and by the “Replacement of police motorbikes” project in Rapallo, Italy, for Mobility.
