The 2021 plan of the GTI Observatory goes live with 8 Task Forces including new ones

Task Forces on floating offshore wind, storage & smart grids, green island resorts, sustainable agriculture, RES-desalination, bicycle infrastructure & business models, maritime transport & ports electrification, wave energy to host first meeting in Q1

As the new year begins, the GTI Observatory (GTIO) is moving on with its 2021 plan on the basis of the debate stimulated by the successful 2020 GTI e_Convention, which has welcomed 90 international speakers and 700+ attendees from all over the world, as well as the best practices recognized with the GTI Awards 2020 from Seychelles, Canary Islands, Madeira, Cape Verde, Malta, Elba, Crete, Cyprus, Maldives, Barbados, Sint Maarten.

The GTIO will keep up its mission aggregating key stakeholders to match island needs and innovative sustainable solutions, producing reports and studies to address strategies and policies, originating projects, business models and financing opportunities, and promoting the cooperation between governments and corporates.

Through the Island Advisory Committee, the Strategy Scientific Committee and the GTIO Task Forces, islands are accompanied towards the sustainable transition with strategy and planning, project feasibility analysis and funding opportunities, training and technical support, and best practices dissemination.

The GTI Observatory active Task Forces will have high-level meetings in February to produce reports and position papers on key topics. Each task force will select islands to test the specific innovative technological solution and present them as case studies throughout the GTI events of the year.

In fact, the GTIO Task Forces will host webinars for GTIO Members in the second quarter of 2021 to share their progress and disseminate best practices. Moreover, following the success of the 2020 GTI e_Convention’s workshops, GTI plans to launch new Task Forces in 2021:

Bicycle policies and business models;
Wave energy technology and trends;
Maritime Transportation & Port electrification.

GTI invites leading innovative corporates and start-ups as well as frontrunner islands to join the GTI Observatory in early 2021 to be active part of its work.
