EU, Caribbean, Pacific & Indian Ocean islands showcase the best solutions to lead a change of pace at the 8th e_Convention.

Technology, policy and finance connect at the Greening The Islands annual event to boost islands’ sustainable growth.

GTI launches on 13 May the 7th edition of the Awards, the internationally recognized contest that gathers the best practices and innovations on islands to give them visibility with the public at large and foster their replication. In fact, allowing best practices to be replicated on islands and remote locations is crucial to accelerate their sustainable transition and avoid common mistakes. The GTI Awards are a fundamental part of the GTI e_Convention, the annual event of Greening The Islands which will be also launched in occasion of the webinar.

The GTI Awards Jury will evaluate the nominations and reward the very best projects on energy, water, mobility, waste, agriculture and sustainable tourism at the closing of the GTI e_Convention. The 8th edition of the GTI e_Convention International Conference and Exhibition, that will take place on October 19-20-21, will be focused on technology, policy and finance in a joint action to boost islands’ sustainable growth.

Last year, the most qualified jury ever assembled for islands has reviewed applications from Barbados, Seychelles, Maldives, Indonesia, Cape Verde, Canary Islands, Sint Maarten, Hawaii, Aruba, Sicily, Madeira, Malta, Elba, Crete, Cyprus, among others. For this edition, delegates from EUROPEAN COMMISSION, IRENA, UNDESA, UNESCO, UNWTO, FAO, GLISPA, INSULEUR, OCTA, OTIE have already confirmed their participation in the jury.

During the webinar, selected past winners will offer an update on the progress made with their projects as well as evidence of replicability and the activities carried out for their dissemination. The webinar aims to incentivize an even larger number of applications for the new edition of the consolidated GTI Awards, hence islands and solution providers are encouraged to take part to the initiative and exploit the opportunity of gaining visibility in the island world and replicating their solutions.
