Since 2014, Greening the Islands have been working hard to engage and empower islands and remote locations worldwide for a sustainable transition. Our community has grown to more than 7.000 islands around the world since then. This is your chance to help GTI grow even further!

Why
Protecting islands and assisting their sustainable transition is a theme that attracts increasing interest at all levels, from local and international institutions, from business to academia, from islanders to inhabitants of the mainland. The environmental threats that islands worldwide currently face demand greater efforts and a global approach. GTI matches islands’ needs with innovative solutions and facilitates the origination of projects for the sustainable transition of islands and their replicability on the mainland, by enhancing cooperation between governments, businesses, academia and citizens and disseminating knowledge and best practices. The crowdfunding campaign will allow GTI to engage diverse expertise from different parts of the world and reach more islands worldwide thanks to digitalization, enabling it to achieve its ambitious targets for the coming years.
What
In addition to strengthening the team, GTI aims to use the funds to develop a powerful digital platform to standardize its services while maintaining quality and broaden the offering to all islands of the world. A guided path towards becoming green destinations will be implemented with a series of digital services, starting from island assessments through the GTI Observatory Global Index. The platform will include a marketplace where islands with similar needs can set up buyer groups, deliver consultancy services performed by recognized specialists, as well as carry out training on the most innovative and replicable solutions.
