Greening the islands took actively part in the 42nd Annual General Assembly
Thanks to the active participation of all CPMR Members, another step forward has been taken in bringing closer the citizens of island territories and those of the continent and in offering recommendations on concrete actions to be taken by the competent EU Institutions.
In the light of the close collaboration between GTI and CPMR, Greening the islands made its valuable contribution to the debate, especially in occasion of the first thematic session dedicated to “ENERGY & TRANSPORT” moderated by GTI Director, Mr Gianni Chianetta. The aim of the session has been to reflect on the main challenges and opportunities linked to decarbonization in the current context – with a focus on the energy and transport sectors – including considerations on the Fit For 55 package, state aid and particularly de minimis rule – based on the contributions and experiences of different speakers.
With the main aim of highlighting the importance of a cooperation among all relevant stakeholders dealing with insularity at different levels of governance, the Palma Declaration intends to define the most complete framework in order to provide islands with the necessary supporting provisions, tools and regulation in the years to come.
Greening the islands is very proud to be part of the path initiated towards a Pact of Islands and the consequent development of an EU Islands Agenda.
